Obtain a map book when travelling to Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban or Cape Town

Before travelling in your rental car in South Africa be sure to obtain a map book for the areas you wish to visit. While many hire cars do come with GPS, a map book is an invaluable tool for visiting tourist or out of the way sites. There are also new developments on the internet such as these below:

BBC Sport: Has launched a comprehensive map World Cup 2010 Map for South Africa. The map is well laid out and is simple to use and there is a HOW TO USE THIS MAP block.

Google is also launching a Street View map

At a press conference in Johannesburg, Google announced the launch of Street View for South Africa and promised to go live before the 2010 World Cup. In the coming weeks, Google, using Toyota Prius fuel efficient and environmental friendly models will begin driving around South Africa and taking photographs of locations, including Johannesburg, Cape Town, Pretoria, Port Elizabeth and Durban.
