If it’s game you want to see then there really is no better place to go than the Kruger National Park - one of the most famous parks in the world and the King of South African game parks. Rent a car from the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport and in 20 minutes you’ll be at Numbi Gate, ready to start your adventure. Here are five ways to enjoy your holiday.

Game drives are what the park is all about. You have the wind in your hair and the sun on your face as you follow a pride of lions. There are sunset, sunrise and night drives – all giving you a different experience of the bush. See the Big 5 from the comfort of a 4x4.

Want to get your heart racing? Go on a Bush Walk for the heart-stopping excitement of tracking animals. You learn more about plants and small animals that get ignored when you’re in a car. Feel the African heat and a tingling in your spine at being so close to nature.

For the more adventurous there are incredible Wilderness Trails – some virtually untouched by humans. Averaging 20kms a day and sleeping in rustic huts – this is the real thing. You feel Africa through all your senses and quickly appreciate the utter peace and quiet. With no other people around, this is the bush on your own exhilarating terms.

The bush at night is a different beast altogether. There are two Sleepover Hides that allow you to see the park from a different perspective. With a small fenced in area, you can sit around an open fire enjoying this unique experience in comfort and safety.

The only thing better than having a braai, is having a braai in the bush. You get dropped off at a braai site, where burning lanterns and open fires welcome you in from the dark. While your food is being cooked you listen to the distant sound of lions and feel the hair on your neck stand up as you hear a twig crack in the darkness behind you. This is exhilarating Africa!
