While in South Africa do as they do and ask where you can find a car rental at East London Airport. This city is in the Eastern Cape and the locals are very Afrikaans orientated and will be impressed at your attempt of language. The great thing about East London is its location it’s virtually a hop, skip and a jump to the Wild Coast, with its timeless and untouched splendour. You will come across long deserted beaches that rival any holiday destination advertisement.
The only footprints you will find are those left behind you, as you meander along this wild coastline. There are no lifeguards to speak of and swimming far from the shoreline is not advisable. There is an abundance sea life and mussels grow in thick swathes across the rocks. Local village people catch fish and harvest crayfish daily to sell to tourists in this untamed area. Tea plantations cover the rolling hills in a verdant carpet and women workers can be heard singing as the go about their daily chores of harvest and caring for the tea. One of the best experiences that one can enjoy is a beach barbeque with a mussel pot bubbling away and with crayfish been eaten out of their steaming shells spiced only with butter and pepper.
