After you have been to the Durban King Shaka Airport car hire or the Newcastle car hire or maybe a luxury car hire, go and visit The Carnegie Art Museum, the Carnegie Art Gallery was built on the old town gallows site and specializes in landscape themes by South African artists. Art and indigenous craft from the northern KZN area is also collected and there are some fine examples of Zulu bead work and ceramics on display.

Newcastle named after the British Colonial Secretary, the Duke of Newcastle. The Newcastle Town Hall is an interesting structure with a sandstone hall and stained glass windows. Built in 1897 to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria and during the second Boer War the hall was piled high with looted furniture from the British and was about to be destroyed, when General Buller arrived in time to save the furniture.
