Among the many guest houses try a Hermanus guesthouse for whale watching

This picturesque seaside town is only 120Kms from Cape Town. The information office is very informative about any Hermanus guesthouse and would have details of all the guest houses in the area. Once you have decided where to stay and booked into the guest house of your choice, head off to the harbour. Fishermen sell their fresh catch daily at affordable prices and depending on the season, you may even be able to get some yummy crayfish for your dinner. Speaking of seasons, there is no better time to be in Hermanus, than in the Whale Season. There are a few whale tour boats based in the new harbour and specially endorsed vessels take guests on whale watching trips in the Hermanus bay. Once in the bay you can enjoy the view of the pig-faced mountain and see all the way to the next coastal fishing village Gansbaai.

There is a laid-back feel in Hermanus and once you have explored the Village centre and craft markets find a place at one of the seaside bars and enjoy sundowners as the sun sets in a fiery blaze over the Atlantic.

Hermanus has some really great fishing spots or you could just have a traditional fish braai at the end of the day and watch the whales cavorting in the bay.
